September - 2020 Mushroom Festival is canceled

Important Info: The 2020 Mushroom Festival is canceled!!

In case you haven’t already heard, the Mushroom Festival for 2020 is canceled due to COVID19. First and foremost we wanted to make sure you all know since we have first met many of you at the festival and those we have know from before we often get to catch up with at the festival as well. We will miss the hang out opportunity and being able to meet new members of our community as well. It is truly a community bonding experience for us. We love coming together as a team and building something to draw your eye in and give you a glimpse of what we can achieve while being surrounded by all of Kennett Square.

In a moment of nostalgia, let’s look back at our past booths.

What is special about building a Mushroom Festival booth is that it is a microcosm of our normal process. The booth design is a challenge because we have a 10’x10’ space that we have to get set up on State St in about 2-3 hours the Saturday morning of the festival. So with those parameters we do all of the leg work here at the shop and set everything up to be able to piece together Saturday morning of Mushroom Festival. Everything has to be planned and scheduled ahead of time so that it is ready to go. It is the same with any project that we design and install. The prep work easily takes longer than the actual time constructing on site so that everything will go as smoothly as possible.

We start with a design

NORMAL PROJECTS: Meet with clients and design a space around your needs

Start constructing any carpentry

NORMAL PROJECTS: Thom creates or does any carpentry prep work in our shop

Collecting plants

NORMAL PROJECTS: Source our plants, trees and shrubs and make plans for digging trees and/or delivery

Start constructing on site

NORMAL PROJECTS: For normal projects we would have some more material planning to do, ie flagstone choices and delivery, sanitation unit delivery, and any other materials would be arranged ahead of time. Then we would come in and get to work!

Hang lights

NORMAL PROJECTS: A lighting plan would be established during the diagnosis process so that we would have conduits and run wires in the appropriate places etc and the lighting would be set in place before plants

Carefully arrange plants

NORMAL PROJECTS: A lot of the planting decisions are made in the design phase but then carefully arranged on site by hand. Typically we arrange every plant in the pot until we get it right, and then come though and plant them all.

Fill in and finishing touches

NORMAL PROJECTS: Filling in and finishing touches on a normal project would be adding mulch, cleaning up, and/or adding poly sand to the flagstone

Meet you!

NORMAL PROJECTS: At the Mushroom Festival when everything is set up and ready we look forward to meeting and interacting with members of our community. But in our normal projects that’s when we get out of your space and let you sit back and enjoy your property!

There is a lot of careful thought planning and executing that goes into our booth at the Mushroom Festival so if we are being honest, not trying to fit the extra booth project in for this year has been somewhat welcomed! But we will absolutely miss the opportunity to meet new people and catch up with old friends at the fair! If you have been waiting to pull the trigger on getting something started, our September should be a little less hectic than our previous Septembers, so do not hesitate, let’s start planning your dream project!
