BLAISE MATTHEWS

Role: Estimator

Pools are an investment in space, time and money. We love pools, we know that they are a worthwhile investment in family time, but we also know that they need to be designed correctly, the first time. If you begin your pool process with a lackluster design or using a basic plan “just to get the pool in” you will be committed to a placement of the pool, often the patio etc. for, let’s say basically forever? You can remove a pool, but it is so costly that generally people decide to fix it or fill it in. That is why GreenRoots’s emphasis is always to start with a carefully thought out design that suits you and your family’s needs and that makes sense to the flow of your home. GreenRoots perspective is to design and install them right!

MARGOT TAYLOR, RLA

Role: Landscape Architect

The first day of spring is March 20th, which is right around the corner! Real talk, spring is when we get the most inquiries. Which means we know that we are all thinking about the upcoming summer months. After a long winter, even a mild one, we are all making plans to spend as much time outside as possible. And so, calling now, will get you ahead of the upcoming inquiries!

CANDICE HUNTLEY

Role: Landscape Designer + Architect Apprentice

The new year usually means new resolutions, new mantras, and an opportunity to reevaluate our lifestyles and habits. We joke about resolutions being a waste of time or something that is only a matter of time to be broken. But resolutions can be a great thing! They come from a point in time when are evaluating the last year, or the past few years, and are taking the opportunity to say, “I would like this to be different in the coming year.” Resolutions do not have to be about weight loss or exercising more, they can be about enjoying life more. What about spending more time at home enjoying your property?

According to Google trends, the first weekend in December is when we will all be looking to get our Christmas lights up and running. Well our resident expert on all (or at least most) things, Thom has some expert advice on exterior Christmas light decorating.

Autumn is here and according to the Smoky Mountains Fall Foliage Map we are just past peak season for fall color.

But colors are still marking the hills and landscape of our area with gradients of vibrant reds, yellows and oranges. While we love the colors, cooler temperatures and fall holidays and seasonal culinarily, did you say Pumpkin spice latte? However, a by-product of, what is the most common favorite season, is all of these leaves!

GreenRoots designers designs + expert installation are what set us apart from the rest. The flow from the highest traffic areas of your home into the backyard. The sustainability of the materials and construction of your project. Mushroom Festival is back on State Street this year! We are so excited to meet up with our community at the Mushroom Festival this year. We love meeting all of you and supporting our hometown of Kennett Square, PA.

I think we can all agree that we want to spend more time outside and enjoying our properties. Fall is right around the corner, but even in the summer heat there are so many ways to be able to be in the outdoors and in comfort! What makes a space comfortable regardless of the season?

July is here, so it is time for our yearly reminder that the heat is brutal this time of year! Not only for you, but for your plants!! Even with plants carefully picked for our climate, the brutally hot days can take a toll on our plants. They will need extra care and attention to make sure they have enough water to get them through heat waves. When it is this hot out sometimes we hide inside in the a/c but with this weather it is important take a walk through your property, perhaps with a hose in hand, and give your plants some extra love!
