If you have a senior ready to graduate this year, you know it’s time to celebrate! You have plenty of time to plan the food, theme and invitations, but now is the time to plan your backyard refresh! Here is a reminder of some things you may want to consider before party time:
Plenty of patio space
We would’t necessarily recommend installing a patio with the only purpose to seat 100 people for your party, however we would recommend installing a patio carefully designed around your family’s needs on a regular basis. So our recommendation would generally be to design a space with outdoor dining and soft seating specific to your family and then to use that patio space to set up on party day!
Parking
If you will be parking a LOT of cars chances are you will have to utilize some grass parking but that doesn't mean this isn't a great opportunity to evaluate your parking areas. We plan driveways and parking areas as a part of landscape designs all of the time. Is there enough room for your to turn around in your driveway? Does your main parking area make sense? Does your driveway function? Fixing these issues will certainly help accommodate your guests as well considering if they are able to turn around in your driveway etc.
Lots of Color
Container pots are an excellent way to add color to your backyard space. A few larger pots and several smaller pots scattered throughout your outdoor space with beautiful color will add so much personality and natural beauty to your space. Trust me, it will be worth the effort!
Screening
Our carpenters create custom screening for any unsightly areas of your property. Utilities, air conditioning units, and trash bins are very necessary parts of our homes, but unfortunately they are unattractive! It is amazing how much better outdoor spaces look when these items are screened. The spaces immediately look so much cleaner and more streamlined!
Space for yard games
Graduation parties are great opportunities for yard games! Whether it’s volleyball, soccer or giant Jenga, be thinking about where you have the space to host these games. If the area is not necessarily maintained compared to the rest of the property, you may want to at least throw some grass seed down!
Mix of seating
Having a mix of hard and soft seating will keep your guests comfortable for their entire stay! Generally hard seating for eating and soft seating for relaxing. Having a mixture ensures that your guests can choose what suits them.
