I don’t know about you but I am itching. Itching to get out, itching to see people, but more than anything itching to go on vacation! I have been searching vacation destinations with high hopes we’ll be back to vacationing soon. I hope that traveling to our favorite destinations are coming right around the corner but in the mean time I know I need some R&R now and I imagine that you probably do as well! You may have even already had to cancel a scheduled trip!
What is a vacation at its core? I would argue a vacation comes down to enjoying the outdoors. Whether your vacation is based around sun, salt, water or mountain the moments are spent enjoying the outdoors. Creating a piece of vacation at home could be exactly what we need to get through this!
May is here and with that we should start seeing some beautiful temperatures. Let’s use our outdoor spaces to bring a piece of vacation home! We are able to make progress on creating dream outdoor spaces using extra safety precautions like social distancing and working remotely. Mountain
Permanent:
If it is natural beauty you are itching for, why not bring some of that to your backyard retreat? There are ways to bring a forest vibe to your space year round by adding things such as boulders, pine trees and/or a water feature.
Temporary:
For a temporary solution for the family cut mountain shapes out of the many cardboard boxes you have been receiving! (I presume)
Beach
Permanent:
Call in the GreenRoots design team to design a space with relaxation made complete with water! Lounge chairs with a water fountain focal point, or a spa with space to lay out your favorite beach towel. Or best yet a pool to really make your feel like you’re on vacation. The options are endless!
Temporary:
Create a space with sand that can easily be taken away later, ie a kiddie pool? Break out the sand toys, a lounge chair and play ocean sounds on a nearby speaker. I said creative!
Lake
Permanent:
Add a pond or large water feature with decking nearby! Add your favorite seating from the lake and a backdrop of trees and you’ll feel like you’re on vacation from home!
Temporary:
What is it you like best about going to the lake? Is it sitting in Adirondack chairs overlooking the water? Invest in some Adirondack chairs and a water feature and carefully position them in a restful place on your property!
International
Permanent:
What is is you love about your favorite travel destination? If it’s tropical we can create a pool or spa experience that feels tropical right in this area! If your favorite travel destination is in Europe, what is it that you are charmed by, the English country cottage feel? Recognize what it is that makes you happy and feel like you are on vacation and let’s bring it to your home!
Temporary:
Create your favorite landmark out of resources you have outside or in the garage! Perhaps a lawn chair/planting pot Eiffel tower?
